Metro Spanish Teacher
Madison brings over a decade of experience teaching, coaching, and leading equity-centered programs to her role as the Middle School Spanish Teacher at Metro. Social justice and identity affirmation are at the heart of their work, and they believe students learn best when every learner feels seen, capable, and curious. Madison got her start in the classroom as a fellow with Herstory’s Teaching for Peace and Justice program and later went on to earn her degree in Spanish Language and Civic Engagement from Hofstra University in Long Island, New York. They’ve loved every minute of working with students from kindergarten to high school—facilitating bilingual writing workshops, creating culturally sustaining curricula, leading an LGBTQ+ student club, and, of course, teaching lots of Spanish. She is excited to use art, storytelling, and play as powerful tools for language acquisition and aims to unlock a deep, lasting love for Spanish language and Latin American cultures within every young scholar at Metro. Outside of the classroom, you might find her teaching yoga, taking dance classes, or bopping around live music shows in Portland with her partner.
