2026 Summer Camps at Childpeace

We are thrilled to offer an amazing selection of community and skill building camps at Childpeace this summer! ☀️  Within our lineup of camps there is opportunity for children and adolescents to study nature, learn to build, tell stories, stretch creative muscles, and so much more. Our camps are primarily geared towards Elementary age students but we do offer a handful that include Children’s House (age 3–6) and Middle School students.

Our camps are open to the public!
Please send us an email at summercamp@childpeace.org if you would like to sign up for summer camps at Childpeace Montessori School.

Please feel free to reach out with any questions!

About Us

Childpeace is the leading non-profit, AMI-certified Montessori school in Portland. For 48 years we have provided a place for children to belong and be celebrated as individuals amongst a community of peers. We empower children from toddlers to teens here at our Northwest Portland campus. In addition to our main building, our campus also has a playground, basketball court, large grass play area, greenhouse and a garden.

  • Brianna Jayne

Brianna holds a B.A. in Communication Disorders & Sciences from the University of Oregon with an emphasis on Special Education, Social Behavioral Sciences and Dance.

She was introduced to Montessori in 2018 as a paraeducator and became passionate about the philosophy and decided to further her involvement in the community.  She enjoys coming into Childpeace and learning something from the children everyday. Her interests include literacy, dance, and astronomy and in her free time she enjoys exploring the outdoors.

  • Chantal Buck

Chantal holds a degree in Cinema (Animation emphasis) and Sociology from San Francisco State University. After graduating, she worked with kids of all ages at an afterschool and summer camp program called Techsplosion, where she helped to upgrade the stop motion animation program and encouraged kids to collaborate while building Lego battle robots, programming video games, and creating animated shorts. Chantal is excited about helping kids to learn to think critically and creatively about the artistic process and to achieve their goals!

  • Daniel Withers

Daniel holds a dual degree in Linguistics and Psychology with high honors from the University of Arizona. Daniel has worked in a variety of roles in Montessori education from PE teacher, to Lifeguard, as well as teaching Algebra, working in Special Education and now is an Elementary Guide here at Childpeace. In his free time, Daniel loves relaxing with his wife and two cats, reading, gardening, learning new crafts, and spending time in nature.

  • Hannah Thiessen

Hannah was born and raised in Portland. She spent her first three years at Childpeace helping in the Elementary After school program before moving into her current role as Myrtle room Assistant. She instantly fell in love with the pedagogy of Montessori and especially appreciates the focus on respecting and educating the whole child. In her free time, she enjoys spending time outdoors, reading, music, cooking, and finding new, creative outlets.

  • Madison Yinger

Madison brings over a decade of experience teaching, coaching, and leading equity-centered programs to her role as the Middle School Spanish Teacher at Metro. Social justice and identity affirmation are at the heart of their work, and they believe students learn best when every learner feels seen, capable, and curious. They’ve loved every minute of working with students from kindergarten to high school—facilitating bilingual writing workshops, creating culturally sustaining curricula, leading an LGBTQ+ student club, and, of course, teaching lots of Spanish.

  • Nicholas Granato

Nicholas  joins us from the Upper Elementary team and brings an extensive background in performance and storytelling. An actor and voice actor for almost 20 years, Nicholas has always loved elevating the stories around him and brings his explosive creativity to his work with the children every day. Who knew that marketing, theatre, and education can all come together to facilitate fun stories about wizards?!

  • Sara MacRae

Sara grew up in Portland and attended Montessori for both Children's House and Elementary. Sara is currently an Elementary Guide and has also worked in administration and student support services. When not teaching Sara loves to bake, cook, garden, knit, and make fused and stained glass art pieces.

  • Shanon Schollian

Shanon graduated from Pacific Northwest College of Art with a BFA in sculpture. She began at Childpeace in 1995 and works as an Assistant in Children’s House, along with other roles in the community. Shanon’s interests include art, sewing, gardening, canning, camping and playing with her daughter. She also teaches art and craft workshops for Multnomah County Libraries.
