The Toddler Community at Childpeace The Montessori Environment: Toddlers
In the Montessori environment even the youngest children are encouraged to be their unique and independent selves. Childpeace has two Toddler Community classes where toddlers (16 months - 3 years) move toward physical independence with activities that revolve around self-care and food preparation.
Setting the table, preparing the snack and cleaning the dishes gives toddlers in our program a sense that their work is important. By engaging in activities and purchasing clothing that allows children to "do it for themselves," parents will help foster a sense of accomplishment in the toddler. Because our toddlers take many walks in the neighborhood, walking and hand-holding are ability requirements for children entering the Toddler Community.
