Amy Eshelby
Guide

Amy is a graduate of Portland State University with a degree in Cultural
Anthropology. Amy joined our Childpeace Staff in 2010, bringing her ten years of Montessori Elementary teaching experience to the Juniper Room. Amy is also the proud parent of her son, Owen. In addition to her work in the classroom, Amy enjoys hiking, knitting, crafting, and spending time with friends and family.

Ashley Piper
Assistant

Ashley Aldridge hails from little Roseburg, Oregon. She graduated with an MA in teaching from Lewis and Clark, and soon found that Montessori was where it was at. She enjoys working on her little photography business, reading fantasy novels, window shopping, camping and singing.

Redwood Room

Sorrel Arends
Guide

Sorrel returned to the Childpeace staff in 2010. She was the founding teacher for the Redwood Room community and its guide until 2008. She has additional training in early literacy and general academic support. Sorrel also enjoys quilting, knitting, playing guitar, running and spending time with her husband, Chris.

Millie Lang
Assistant

Millie came to Childpeace in 2007 after many years of assisting in a Montessori school in Alaska and taking Montessori coursework. She is a talented artist, songstress, and a certified First Aid and CPR instructor.

Claire Bollinger
Guide

Claire received her AMI elementary certification in Bergamo, Italy after assisting in other Montessori schools. She has a BFA in Modern Dance from the University of Utah. She joined Childpeace in 2005.

Kevin Wells
Assistant

Kevin joined Childpeace in 2008, just after completing his AMI Montessori Primary training. He spent his first year as the Hawthorn Room assistant and now brings his skills to the Lower Elementary Classroom. He has been a professional photographer for years, and is also skilled in other art forms and music.

Upper Elementary - Hawthorn Room

Christen Kelly
Guide

Christen has undergraduate and graduate degrees in Fine Arts and Photography. Fluent in Italian, she completed her Montessori Training in 2006 in Bergamo, Italy and has worked with Upper Elementary students in Arizona before joining the Childpeace community in 2009. Outside of work, Christen continues to work as a practicing artist and enjoys running.

Tony Bertaccini
Assistant

Tony joined the Hawthorn Room in 2009. He is a local musician in addition to having a background as a public school math instructor. He and his wife, Bei, hail from Florida and recent transplants to the Northwest.

Greg Lawrence
Guide

Greg received a B.S. in Biology from Portland State University before completing his AMI elementary training at the Montessori Institute of San Diego in August 2002. He has a great deal of teaching experience, including time spent as an assistant and a guide in local Montessori elementary schools. Greg joined Childpeace in 2002.

Stephanie Houston
Assistant Guide - Upper El

Stephanie graduated with a B.A. in Cultural Studies and French from The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington. Upon graduation, Stephanie joined the Peace Corps and spent several years living and exploring West and North Africa. She completed her Montessori Training and Masters degree at Loyola College in Maryland and has worked for the past 10 years in both private and public Montessori schools. She is returning to Oregon, with her family, after many years in Nevada. In addition to classroom time, Stephanie enjoys biking, cooking, knitting, travel and walks to the dog
park and playground.

Aftercare Supervisor

An graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in English Literature and History. He enjoys photography, reading, being married, and his young son Jonah and daughter Mae. An came to Childpeace in 1995.

Alison Reilly
Assistant

Alison has worked at Childpeace since 2010. She grew up in Portland and graduated from the University of Maryland in 2009 with a B.A. in Art History. Before coming to Childpeace, she taught English abroad in France.

Yuki Martin
Art Instructor

Yuki joined Childpeace in 2007 and has been helping throughout the school. She is also an artist specializing in arts from her native Japan, and she has been teaching her unique arts in various places throughout Oregon.

Travis Paine-Turnsen

Lower EL P.E. Instructor
Upper EL Aftercare

Travis has worked at Childpeace since 2009 as the Lower EL Physical Education teacher, main campus playground games person, and TT gymnastics teacher. Travis came to us from Santa Barbara, CA, where he had been sharing his skills and enthusiasm at Montessori schools for a number of years.

Katie Bayer
Spanish Teacher

Katie came to Childpeace in 2006, having enjoyed being a Spanish teacher for six years at other schools. Katie majored in Spanish Literature at Carleton College and has spent time working and living in Spain.
