Marcia Thomas
Guide

Marcia has worked with adolescents since 1993 in science programs and
conservation schools, Montessori schools, with Title 1 students, and in garden learning labs. She has a Masters of Education from Portland State University, a BA from Fresno Pacific University in Organizational Development, and holds an OR multi-subject teaching credential with a middle school language arts endorsement. She completed the NAMTA Orientation to Adolescent Studies in 2009. Marcia is a founding teacher of MMM.

Jimmy Whipps
Guide

Jimmy holds a BA in History from Portland State University, and completed the NAMTA Orientation to Adolescence in 2008. He has been working with Montessori adolescents since 2004, and also spent five years assisting in Upper EL classes. Jimmy is a founding teacher of our middle school.

Andrea Soule-Swanson
Guide

Andrea graduated from the University of San Diego in 2006 with a BA in English and a minor in Spanish. Upon graduation, she moved to Baltimore, MD with Teach for America to teach in West Baltimore schools. In Baltimore, she earned her Masters degree in Education from Johns Hopkins University. She spent five years teaching middle school in Baltimore before deciding it was time to head back to her home coast. Andrea moved to Portland with her husband in August of 2011, ready and excited to become a member of Childpeace's Metro Montessori Middle!
